Courts Can’t Ignore Marriage ‘Rooted in Biology’
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins says that even though judges are ruling in favor of same-sex marriage, the court can’t deny that traditional marriage is rooted in biology.
Perkins responded to a Pennsylvania judge’s ruling Tuesday that overturned the state’s ban on gay marriage. The ruling allows gay couples to marry immediately.
U.S. District Judge John Jones III said laws defining marriage as the union of a man and a woman should be thrown “into the ash heap of history.”
But Perkins disagreed, saying the judge lacks any foundation constitutionally for his ruling.
“Nature and nature’s God cannot be usurped by the edicts of the court,” he said. “The courts can ignore natural law, or even suppress it, but they will never succeed in subduing it.”
Perkins stated he believes there will be a societal rejection of court-imposed same-sex marriage, and that Americans will ultimately refuse to accept the authority of judges to redefine marriage.
With the recent addition of Pennsylvania, gay marriage is now legal throughout the entire Northeast.
